Growing up on a family farm in Southeast Idaho taught Matt more about life and business than his formal education ever could have. A determined work ethic and common-sense approach are engrained into every aspect of his personal and professional life. Matt brings extensive senior management experience to Valley Veterinary having formed, financed, and served as inside and outside general counsel to many early-stage growth companies including several within the veterinary and pet industries. He utilizes his deep knowledge of corporate, finance, real estate, and merger & acquisition transactions to provide strategic counsel to the VVC and oversees all growth transactions, risk, and compliance matters on behalf of VVC. He excels at simplifying problems and creating systems and processes to grow, scale, and achieve long-term value.
After graduating with a degree in business management from BYU and a law degree from William & Mary School of Law (graduating cum laude), Matt worked for Hawley Troxell, the largest Idaho-based law firm, and Holland & Hart LLP, the largest law firm based in the Rocky Mountain region. Matt has also owned and operated his own legal practice and enjoyed success in many personal business ventures while helping his clients navigate to achieve successful exits.
When he is not putting a deal together (which is rare), Matt keeps himself busy spending time with his wife and children, coaching youth athletic teams, and mentoring and supporting others to achieve their personal and professional goals. Whenever able, he also loves getting outdoors, particularly the mountains to enjoy all that nature has to offer.
